Set the course for 2010 in action, in the snowy mountains of southern Colorado!
Imagine yourself sitting on a ski lift next to a warm friend, your skis dangling in the air above a powdery slope where other snow-bunnies are zipping joyfully downward, etching their mark in the white mountain. You look up and around at the panorama of snow-capped peaks in the distance, and pull out your camera to take the idillic shot that will later make your friends and family drool. Taking a deep breath, and feeling grateful for the warmth of the sun you suddenly realize “Hey, it’s New Years day! …This is going to be the best one yet!”

Trip Itinerary:
We will meet you early on Tuesday morning (Dec 29) in Albuquerque, NM and drive to Santa Fe. After being fitted for your boots and skis or snowboard, we’ll be ready to hit the slopes for the afternoon!

We’ll spend one day at Ski Santa Fe, a beautiful series of slopes in the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. The ski area is one of the highest in the continental US with a base elevation of 10,350 feet and a new chairlift to drop you off at over 12,000 feet. The view is spectacular from the top! And the combination between the high elevation and the far southern location means perfect, fluffy, natural snow, and lovely weather at the same time!
On Wednesday morning (Dec 30) we head north toward Pagosa Springs, CO. The scenic 3-hour drive takes us deeper into the southern Rocky Mountians. Pagosa Springs sits at the base of the Continental Divide and is surrounded by the San Juan National Forest. After a half day of skiing at nearby Wolf Creek Ski Area, we will settle into our cozy cabin in town, our base camp for the next few days.
Moose & Squirrel Cabin, our cozy home for 4 nights in Pagosa Springs
Thursday (Dec 31) we will enjoy our first full snow day in Colorado. We will have the opportunity to return to Wolf Creek, or check out the mountains around Durango. When we are all worn out and feeling just fabulous we will head to the cabin, prepare a delicious dinner and celebrate New Years Eve with friends old and new!
The next 2 days we’ll be gliding down some of Colorado’s best slopes, exploring great local food and culture, and cuddling up with warm cups of hot chocolate by the fireplace. Sunday morning (Jan 3) you’ll back on your way to the airport and ready to get back to a whole new year in the “real world.”
