Na Pali Coast, Kauai- 2009

This album follows our hike along the Na Pali Coast on the island of Kauai, Hawaii in December 2009. The world renowned Kalalau Trail is an 11-mile track carved out of the edge of the jungle, hundreds of feet above the ocean along the northwest coast of the island. Black Bear Explorers will be offering [...]

n this photo album you’ll also see photos of our visit to the Arenal Rainforest and Butterfly Conservatory, our ocean kayaking & snorkeling excursion in Ballena Marine National Park, and our 4-day backpacking trip through the jungle of Corcovado National Park on the southern Osa Peninsula… and more!

New Years 2010 Ski Trip

What a way to celebrate New Years Eve, soaking in a 108 degree pool of naturally hot steaming spring water while a fresh 3-foot-deep blanket of snow covered the ground!

Paragliding- November 2009

We enjoyed ideal conditions for beginning kiting practice, clear nights for star-gazing (Russ and Dane brought a telescope!) and perfect wind on Sunday for every participant to have the opportunity for a tandem flight from Buffalo Mountain!

We look forward to a Winter of integration… and to picking back up in the Spring.

Paragliding- September 2009

We had a great introductory weekend this September with perfect weather to watch a few launches, and a nice steady wind for practicing the basics. With a group of about 8 paragliding students at different levels, and our instructor Ron, we were able to get a taste of flight in the rolling Ouachita Mountains.

Gila Wilderness- May 2009

Backpacking in the New Mexico’s Gila Wilderness was Black Bear Explorers’ first trip, and it’s one we’ll continue to do every year because we simply love the stunning landscapes and find it a perfect destination for beginning and experienced backpackers alike.

Southwest Summit Fever- August 2009

There’s nothing like the Rocky Mountains in summer time!

Gila Wilderness, NM- March 2007

We hiked for 6 days, approximately 40 miles along the west fork of the Gila River, through high ponderosa pine forests and dramatic canyon landscapes, where centuries ago native peoples carved their homes into vertical rock faces! Take a peek.

Belize & Guatemala- November 2008

A week in Central America visiting Mayan ruins, ancient caves with precious artifacts, zip lining, and of course- the beach!

Copper Canyons, Mexico- March 2008

The 7 day hiking trip to the Copper Canyons in March, 2008 was a wonderful adventure.  On day 2 our group emerged from our tents to find snow falling lightly from the sky.  By day 4 we were hiking along the bottom of a deep canyon in T-shirts and 85 *F weather. What a dynamic [...]
